Natalie Friedman
Through my art, I seek to understand and celebrate the places I inhabit. Mixing elements of space, light, shapes, and colors, I aim to evoke a twin sense of familiarity and wonder, illuminating the beauty in small ordinary moments.
I bring these commonplace tableaus to life primarily using acrylic on canvas, wood, or paper. I take photographs of these spaces to use as source images and then use leftover paint to create a ground. I build in layers, letting memory and impressions guide the process. The finished pieces are not literal representations but abstracted reflections.
My creations are meant to serve as visual reminders to appreciate the present, wherever you may find yourself.
